Is it the same?

Do you bleed after c-section like you do after a vaginal birth?

  • Yes. I bled for about 3 1/2 weeks. My period came back after 4.

  • geez, music. WOW. That's a lot of bleeding. I had a natural birth and only bled for a few days. The people I know who had csections said they didn't bleed much because the dr like scraped out the uterus. =/

  • As a general rule, the OB not only scrapes the placenta off of the uterus, but cauterizes the blood vessels generally causing not necessarily shorter bleeding, but lighter.

    It's different with each doctor and each mother.
