Where do I find powdered egg whites at the store?

Is this going to be in the baking section? I need it for gingerbread house icing since I donn't want to use egg whites like I did last year.

  • Definitely in the baking section. You CAN buy powdered egg whites - I've never seen powdered whole eggs. I do not know a brand name. BUT, if you have a Wal-Mart, Michaels, or Hobby Lobby near you, go to the specialty cake section and look for a small can of Wilton Meringue Powder - it is basically powdered egg white, and you can use it to make royal icing (I use it in my buttercream and will use it for royal icing next week). It's not cheap, but it's good!

  • Probably next to the evaporated milk.

  • OK, that is probably what I meant. Thank you!

  • --- but I doubt they sell powdered egg whites, they sell regular powdered eggs.

  • I would say you wouldn't be able to find it anywhere but a specialty store. Call the grocery's manager and ask specifically before going in.
