toddler kicking

my 16 month old daughter moves her legs while shes drinking her bottle to go to sleep. it is hard for her to get calm and stop moving them and finally fall asleep. a couple times i have tried holding her legs (i sleep in the crib with her sometimes i am a young mom) and she will start swinging her arm back and forth. other times she just fights me with her legs. it's gotten worse the last 3 nights.. i didnt really notice it as much until now. is she restless?.. over tired? i'm not sure. anybody experience this with their toddler?

  • It is very common. No big deal.

  • It sounds like she is a child who fights sleep. They will move any body part just to keep themselves awake. The best thing you can do for her is put her to bed and leave her to put herself to sleep. Bad habits formed early are hard to break.

  • I'd let her move, mine did, they didn't have a bottle at that age but they did move around, one would put his forehead on the bed (toddler bed) and sort of crawl/scoot in a circle until he fell asleep, it only took a few seconds, maybe a minute. The other one would move his arms around, not really flailing his arms just moving them until he fell asleep.
