Any one else celebrate a holiday thats not in your belief?

I like to celebrate christmas, despite the fact that I dont believe christ is gods son (no I'm not jewish). I think christmas has become more a presents holiday, which is what I celebrate, rather than about some persons birthday, well my mom was born on that day too. Anyone else?

and no bashing, these are my belief. they dont interfer with yours nor am I putting your beliefs down. respect other people.

  • I'm with you there. I celebrate secular Christmas in relation to gift giving (as well as Yule and Saturnalia) but I also believe nothing about it being the birth of God's son.

  • I like them all. I'm atheist, dh is agnostic and we do a lot of the Christian holidays, a few of the Chinese holidays (dd is Chinese), some ethnic holidays like St. Patrick's Day (even though we're not Irish), etc.

It's always a good thing to celebrate family and friends!

  • Umm... Yes and No. I PARTICIPATE in Christmas, but I CELEBRATE Yule. To me there is a difference.

  • I celebrate Xmas and easter. Meaning I give my kids and family members presents and candy on certain days of the year because that's a fun thing to do and I get to enjoy my family smiling.

  • Sort of. I celebrate Christmas as an extension of Yule and as a family tradition. Same with Easter and Ostara.
