Libido and Menopause (PIOG)

Ok Ladies, here goes, I've heard horror stories about women loosing their Libido, their sex drive, desire whatever you want to call it, when they hit menopause. Is this true? Should I just shoot myself now?

  • My personal experience thus far with perimenopause (by the way menopause isn't until you have been 1 full year with no period.. perimenopause is the 10 or so years of "fun" that goes on before that happens.. lol).

I'm 48. I began (officially diagnosed by my doc) perimenopause at 40. My doc is a menopause/perimenopause specialist. I personally had no decrease (non yet that is..) in sex drive. My experience has been the complete opposite. I'm hornier than a 17-20 year old boy most days.. lol I'm like a college freshman at their first big beer mixer who might get some for the first time.. LOL Really. I have not experienced drying out, pain during intercourse or the lack of sex drive that many women do. Sex has just been getting better and better over the past few years.

Now if you want to talk: night sweats, insomnia, hot flashes, dry skin, hair falling out, and all those other *snark* wonderful symptoms .those SUCK!

  • I hope not. I'm 49, I haven't had any menopause symptoms yet, so I don't know, but my sex drive has been higher....I think just because kids aren't home much, and we can be alone more!!
