Chapped Cheeks?

DD has what looks and feels like chapped cheeks from putting EVERYTHING in her mouth lately - she's almost 5 months old. Is there anything I can use to make it go away?

  • Any kind of edible oil --olive oil is a bit sticky and smells a bit, but safflower, or canola or sesame (or sweet almond oil, or cocoa butter) is safe on her skin and will protect her from the elements which are drying her out.

  • Bordeaux's makes a cheek ointment in a little squeeze tube for easy application, but Aquaphor should work just as well if you don't mind getting your own fingers greasy.

  • I use a dry skin cream, not lotion, and it clears it right up.

  • Aveeno Baby lotion..light blue cap. It has no dyes or fragrance and will not burn. It also has dimethicone which foms a barrier andhalps retain moister in the skin. I use it on my grandsons eczema daily to keep 'hot spots' at bay.

  • Any cream will do, but it's partically not chapped cheeks as much as possible teething or the cold weather, that's if you live in a colder climate. I live in MN!

  • Boudreaux's baby kisses (comes in a tube like lip balm) works wonders, Aquaphor works equally well. Olive oil can work in a pinch but can stain anything it rubs off on so put a bib on your LO if you go that route.
