What do you think about the supposed "symbolism" in books, like The Scarlet Letter? Do you think it's real and was put in intentionally by the author, or do you think that somewhere at some time someone just decided to read too deeply into things and basically ended up putting words in the author's mouth?

  • I think too many people read into things too much. It's a book, a story, not something that really happened.

  • Although I've never read "The Scarlet Letter", I have read other novels such as "The Lord of the flies, Animal Farm, and Robinson Crusoe" I believe these authors intentionally put the symbolism in the story. In my op they were written re the times the author lived.
