  • yeppers.. it is a form in itself of shamanism if you think about it.. a celtic/brisitsh version of it...the difference is that shamans generally use trances to do their workings.

  • Nope. A former Wiccan could become a Neo-Shaman but no one can become a Shaman unless they were raised and trained within an indigenous religion that has Shamans as their spiritual leader. But a eclectic Pagan can become a Neo-Shaman if they choose that as their religious path. Neo-Shamanism is not the same as Shamanism.

  • Yes and No. Firstly, it's very rare today to find a true Shaman if they were not raised to be such. So the vast majority of "Shamans" today are "Neo-Shamans" and it's not a pure form of Shamanism. This more common "Neo-Shaman" form of Paganism is easily mixed with Wiccan beliefs and practices. These "Neo-Shamans" are following more of a PRACTICE rather than a BELIEF or RELIGION... So sure, someone could easily PRACTICE Shamanism and follow the Wiccan RELIGION, but I would think it would be hard to be a pure Shaman and Wiccan... But yes, a hybrid faith/practice is more than doable because they do not necessarily clash in any way.

Hybrids are always possible, but just like it would be hard to be a PURE Wiccan and PURE Catholic, there would need to be some give and take here as well...

  • I am a shaman and a witch. Shamanism is something you are called to by spirit, and you most certainly do not have to have a teacher within a tribe. Many teachers are of the spirit world nowdays, especially since so many wise elders are passed on.
