can i buy organic food with my food stamps?

  • I had to complain about that very thing yesterday. The register rang it up as non-eligible. I complained and they over rode the register because it's consumable.

  • Absolutely. Do some research and find out when it's worth it though. Since GMO's can be labeled organic, you aren't guaranteed to get 'clean' food. We buy grass fed, organic beef, cage free organic eggs, and organic milk. That's about it.
    The beef is EXPENSIVE, but we don't eat meat at every meal, so it's okay for us.
    Also, you can use your SNAP benefits at farmers markets, and butcher shops. If you have one of those places that will butcher wild game, go in there and talk to them about their inventory. Vennison is a little pricey, but you know it's not been fed hormones. It's probably got some pesticides in it, but at much lower concentrations than in factory farmed meat.
