Are you saving for retirement?

We live paycheck to paycheck right now. I hope to start teaching elementary school next fall - but until then, we don't have a dime in savings.

I only have a few friends who do - Do you have any savings for retirement? Or any savings at all?

  • I do. I have my 401k and I also work for a company that is employee owned. Also, since I started working for this co. 10 years ago I have 50.00 once a month automatically deducted from checking into savings.

  • We put 60 percent of my pay and all of my husbands residual income from three inventions into our retirement and investment accounts. My husband is fully retired and in his early 40's. We have both been saving for many years.

  • I've got a little money in retirement. But right now, no we're not saving. Currently we're just job hunting...

  • Yes, we have IRAs and deferred compensation plans in place. We also have savings to draw from, pension plans, insurance policies and social security (if it's still there by the time we get there).

  • We do have a retirement saving. We have a set amount taking out of our check every pay period and our job match what we put in.

  • I have a pension through work. We barely get all the bills paid, and have nothing left to save thanks to this hell hole of an economy, and DH having lost lots of pay.

  • My husband has money taken out from his paycheck, but I'm not sure how much. I think it's around 10% or 15% of his income. Then we have another $300 going to IRAs and $150 going to our daughter's college fund. All of our savings come out the day he gets paid, automatically. So we never really see that money.
