What size would a 3-5 year old girl wear?

DH and I are sponsoring a little girl for Christmas through a local program. One of the things she ask for was a sweater with butterflies on it. The only specifics we have about her is her name and that she is between 3 and 5. I know kids' sizes vary, but was wondering what maybe the average size was for this age range. TIA!

  • Hi J,
I would go with a girls size 4 from the girls section, instead of a 4t. In this town all the sizes run large. then I would include a gift reciept so it can be exchanged if it doesn't fit. I think most of the size 4's around here are a 4/5

  • I agree with the other posters. I would go big especially with a sweater as you usually wear them over other clothes. Too big would be better then too small
