Christmas ornaments

Has anyone ever made their own Christmas ornaments, and had an old fashioned Christmas theme? I just made my first cinnamon ornaments, and don't really know what others I could do other than stringing popcorn. Any ideas?

  • We've done cookie ornaments and cross-stitch ornaments and crocheted snowflakes and ornaments with the children's photos on them, crafted from styrafoam balls, glitter, and ribbon. We've done a mitten tree, with nearly a hundred hand knit pair of mittens (later donated to the children's shelter) and a candy tree with old fashioned candies. Fruits and Nuts and Candy would all go well on an old-fashioned tree. Tying little bundles of cinnamon sticks with red ribbon and hanging them looks great and smells even better! And don't forget some nice big pinecones on an old fashioned tree!

  • I have kept every Christmas ornament made by my kids at school since they started and after 33 years or so I still have a few that have survived the test of time and hang them on my tree. Mind you I could not decorate the whole tree with them, but I can give my tree that personal memory touch, I love it.

  • I meant to say 30 years not 33.
