Have you ever breast feed and gave formula to your child (at the same time)?

Did the doctors say it was okay, or did they just want you to choose one?

  • Oh I thought you meant literally at the same time because yes I have lol. When I wasn't producing enough milk but still wanted to breastfeed my lactation nurse gave me a feeding tube filled with formula to attach to the nipple cover so it was like I was breastfeeding formula. The point was so my son still wanted the breast and not the bottle until my milk came in.

But yes it's to use both breastmilk and formula. Lots of people do it.

  • Yeah, our doctor encouraged it because my son was so big. I just read an article about this... Let me see if I can find it online for you.

  • Sorry, I can't find it... It was on but now there are like 15 articles and I can't find the one I wanted... There is some other great advice there about this though!
