does anyone have children that are 7 and older , and they sometimes or all the time act like they are 2and 3 all over again?

My 7 and 9 yr old girls start crying over the smallest things like they are baby's .Most of the time i ignore it,but i can't help telling them they are crying over nothing and they sound like baby's. I do try to teach them to handle things in other ways , but they dont seem to listen.

  • I think we have all been there at some point. My kids are 13, 11 and 9 and still sometimes act that way. It is good to try and teach them other ways to handle things, although they might not change right now.

    Good Luck!

  • I would discourage judgment.
They are crying because of *something* even if it's insignificant to you.
    It's something to them.

At this time there are a lot of changes going on.
Especially viewing their place in the world~ they are really going through a lot.
(AKA The Nine-Year Change, and hormones, etc)

I encourage you to "allow" them to have their emotions.
Give them a shoulder to cry on or privacy to work through it.
When you are upset enough to cry what do you need?
Space, a listening ear?? Same for them...

  • I do give my girls a shoulder to cry on over more serious issues. I will not over spilled milk!
