My BIL is doing much better - (fist and foremost) Thanks to God, and thanks for the knowledge, skill and ability of the doctors and ICU staff at Baptist Memorial in Memphis - and lastly - but certainly not least - THANK YOU ALL for your prayers.
Kenny has a group of doctors working on him - and they've pulled him through the worst of it. Praise God for the competent dermatologist and burn specialist who worked around the clock to keep his skin attached to his body.
Kenny does have Steven's Johnsons Syndrome (and had Sepsis as a complication of the SJS) - BUT the SJS never progressed to TEN (which is the deadliest form of SJS).
As of this morning - 10 days after this all began - Kenny is doing well enough to be moved from ICU to a room (hopefully in the next 24 hours). His body has responded well to the treatments. He DID lose a significant amount of his skin - mostly on his lower legs and lower arms - His face has been save from complete skin loss and he will continue to look like our Kenny. His labs are improving every day - although he is still in a lot of pain - his organs are no longer enlarged - his kidneys are functioning normally - and all his vitals have stabilized in normal ranges.
Ladies Thank you so much for your prayers. Continue to pray for further progressive healing, pray for his doctors and nurses (especially once he's moved to a room - 1 nurse per 30 patients) pray that he continues to receive the close care he needs to completely recuperate. Continue to pray my sister and BIL's financial condition - with no income coming in -and bills still accumulating - there's going to be a deficit - and there's going to be MASSIVE hospital bills, medications, home care, etc on top of everything else.
Bottom line - Kenny is improving - but not out of the woods yet. MUCH continued prayer is needed.
Thank you ladies. You're an awesome group of people.
