Do you get offended when people say, "Happy Holidays"?

It doesn't bother me, because I know not everyone celebrates the same holiday. But when ever I am with my mom, and someone mentions "Happy Holidays", she gets all defensive and snaps back, "Its Merry Christmas!" And the funny thing is, she is not even that religious. I was just wondering, do others get offended by this? The one thing I do think is ridiculous though, is Christmas trees, being called "Holiday" trees. I mean, really? What other religion uses tress to celebrate? Have you ever heard of the Jewish putting up a Hanukkah tree?

  • It never used to when the majority of ppl said Merry Christmas. However, when I'm told that I can't say Merry Christmas and I have to be politically correct then yes I find it extremely offensive. What happened to free speech??

  • I have never heard of anyone being offended when someone says happy holidays. Does your mother realize that everyone is not christian and does not celebrate christmas? There are other holidays being celebrated right now. I have never seen a holiday tree.

  • I don't think "Holiday trees were very popular" lol I live in Seattle, and we have a lot of hippies here that like to try out new things. Obviously the trend didn't take off...hmmm I wonder why?
