Do you buy Christmas gifts for your teens bf or gf?

Or do you let them exchange gifts between each other only? I want to do something thoughtful and wanted advise from other Moms on how they handle it.

  • I always did and now I also do it for my grown kids partners, they are all part of the family even though there are no legalities tying us to them. Just something thoughtful, to let them know they are part of the family.

  • No, I left it up to them to exchange.

  • Since we don't celebrate Christmas we don't buy Christmas gifts BUT if one of my sons girlfriends or even friends come over during Chanukah I make sure that they have something small to recieve (a bag of candy or a candy bar, depending on the night they come over).

  • We usually do but it depends on how serious they are at the time.

  • When they have been together for awhile, and are apparently in a serious relationship, yes we do get them a small token gift. Itunes or some other gift card. DD and her BF have been together for 4 years and bought a house last year, he gets gifts just like our kids. We even still send DS ex (after 5 years together) a small gift, because they are still very close, but his new GF, probably not, they have only been together a couple months.

  • It depends, if they are comming over during a time when people will be opening presents, you should have at least one thing for them to open (doesnt have to be big, one good thing about this economey is that you can get some really good gifts for under $10.) But haing them over during a time when people will be giving gifts and not giving them something (and again,it can be a small something) would be almsot as rude as having them over while you are eating dinner and not having anything for them to eat. Also, they prob wil bring something for you, at least a girlfriend will, a boyfriend may not be as thoughtful lol
