My son was given...

He has a terrible cough and his Doc. Wrote him out the presciption Tussionex.Anyone familier with this cough syrup?I read about it but I always do my own research too.He said to give it to him at night.

  • I've heard of Robitussin. Am guessing it's similar.

  • It's a prescription so it's potency is stronger than any OTC cough medicine. It will make him sleepy which will help him to get a good nights sleep. It will also help break up the mucous in his chest so he can breathe better.

  • Tussionex is RX only a combination of chlorpheniramine and hydrocodone. Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine and hydrocodone is used as a narcotic cough suppression

  • Last time I had a really bad cough that was what the doc prescribed to me - it worked!

  • If you google any prescription drug, you will end up not taking because all of them have so many side effects, it scares me silly!

  • It has codeine in it and it will help him sleep, take it as prescribed by the doctor. I can tell you it works very well!!! It will break up the congestion so that he can sleep. He won't need it for more than a couple of days.
