Do you pay off credit cards with your income tax return?

How do you spend your income tax return? Do you pay off bills, travel, buy things for the kids?

  • We used to. Now we are debt free and don't use credit cards. We also don't get much of a return anymore. We changed our exemptions so that we get back as little as possible and more money stays in the paycheck. But anything that we do get back will go towards paying down our mortgage because that's our last step in owing no one money.

  • We've made sure that my husband has the correct amount of deductions, so we don't usually get much back if any. I'd rather not let the government use my money all year interest free!

  • We put everything we need to towards bills and then the rest goes into the bank. If we want to purchase something we talk it over and decide if it's worth it. If not, we continue to save the rest.

  • We never getting a refund I was 21 last time I got one. Always owe. If I got a return would readjust how I paid in my quarterly payments so I wasn't paying in too much giving the Gov an interest free loan.

  • We pay our credit card bills off monthly. The tax return goes into the savings account.

  • We never carry a credit card balance, we usually just put any tax return into savings.
