  • Every labor is different. Yes, in general, second labors are shorter than first labors, but not always.

  • Generally speaking, second and subsequent labors are shorter than the first because your body ideally already knows what it's doing, so it's kind-of acting from memory, so to speak. But that's not always the case. Sometimes your body might get it right the first time, and there's nothing to do better the second time. Or something can be different the second time, like more stress or baby's not as ready, to make it last longer. There are generalizations to pregnancy and labor/delivery, but no rules. Each one should be taken as a new experience.

  • Each of my three labors has lasted longer than the previous one ( 5.5 hours, 8 hours, 11 hours) and all three were induced, so go figure.

  • Every one is going to be different.. My first one lasted 17 hours.. & my second lasted 2 hours.

  • My first 3 were all the same, about 24 hours from start to finish. So with my 4th I was expecting about the same but with him it was only 10 hours.
