Would you ever send you toddler to a day care that...

Is over 45 mintues away from your house, and 3o minutes away from your work ...

I just cant understand it... my friend sends her 2 year old to a day care in another city ( because it is $30 cheaper than the ones in town) I dont think that it is that much saved since she will spend half that in gas... and what if something happened it would take that long to go get him ...

She says that stuff doesnt bother her but , I know I am not alone in this ?

  • If the day care has everything she is looking for, I don't see why not.

  • It's kind of like working just to pay daycare. Neither one makes sense.

  • I agree with you. When my oldest son was born I worked in a different state about 1/2 hour from my house. I looked for a daycare that was close to work and found one right around the corner. So everyday my son would drive in the car with me and he was so close that I could go and have lunch with him.

I guess everyone does what they feel is best and while it is not what I would do it works for her.

  • I wouldn't. But it is her decision. If she is comfortable with her decision, let it be.

  • I wouldn't for the cost savings, but I would if it's a better daycare.

  • She always complains about the daycare too though... even a few weeks ago she had to go get him because a 4 year old beat him up... literally gave him a bloody nose, and yet no worker knew exactly what happened ....but she is a very big penny pincher

  • Nope! When I was working my oldest (and only at the time) went to a daycare that was owned by my aunt and right down the street from my family's business Where i was at every day rotated i could be anywhere from 2 min to 30 min away. I loved knowing that if something happened there were so many people that could get to him pretty quick
