Why is the price of gas going up this time?

How much is a gallon of gas where you are? The media says it will be at or above $3.00 (if it isn't already)by Christmas and we all know if the media says so it will be so.

  • It's because (1) winter gas is a different formulation and (2) people travel for the holidays.

  • It's 2.85 here. I think it is just because there is more traveling around Christmas. So they spike up the price. Hoping it will go back down in January.

  • It is 2.97 here in the Twin Cities. This is travel season. People driving to see relatives. No big surprise. It makes me mad.

  • To those who say it is because of the wter/holiday season~ You might want to keep an eye on the LONG Term... AP: "Analysts said the price increase this week is due in large part to the price of crude oil hitting $90 a gallon in U.S. trading on Tuesday, a prices last approached 25 months ago. Some traders are now predicting crude oil could hit $100 a barrel by mid 2011."
