  • Try warm water with honey and lemon mixed works wonders.

Or you could just give her a teaspoon of honey. This coats the throat and limits irritation thus it suppresses her cough...unless she has a chest cold. If she has a chest cold, coughing is actually beneficial to getting better. It breaks up the mucus and congestion in her chest.

  • Vitamin C drops are good & this will help keep her throat from being so scratchy & helps her from coughing. lightly Warm Tea with lemon & honey.

  • My pediatrician doesn't recommend honey for very young children ... depending on your child's age, general health, etc I would consult your doctor.

Another idea is some Vicks vapor rub on your daughter's feet with socks over them. This works well for bedtime.

  • "My pediatrician doesn't recommend honey for very young children ..."

honey contains a bacteria called botulinum, which can cause a disease called botulism, in infants less than 1 year of looking at the OPs profile, her child is WELL over one year of age.

  • We do tea with honey and lemon here. It works wonders. Just be careful of the vitamin C. It can eat enamel off the teeth. :( Also if the child is old enough, try having her gargle with hot/warm salt water. It always helps my throat. Hope she feels better.
