  • It depends on the severity of the down's IMO. If she can take care of herself then sure she should be allowed to care for her child.

  • If she can competently take care of a child. Shoot crack heads have babies. They're the ones that really shouldn't have children!!!!!

  • I don't think you can generalize with something like this. There are so many factors that would go into determining if the woman was capable of caring for the child- her own mental capabilities paired with the support she would have- that you can't just answer a blanket yes or no to a question like this.

  • Sure if a woman with no arms can have a baby, raise it, & even drive a van with her feet why not!

  • It really depends on the severity of the Down's. If she is able to work, take care of herself and is able to take care of a child, of course she should be able to keep it.

  • I agree with other moms there is a large range of Downs if she can care for it of course. I actually know of a family the "normal" sister abused her child and did not care for it so the "special" sister took the child and raised it.

  • If she can care for her baby, there is no reason why she should not be allowed to keep it. If she can't take care of the baby on her own, but someone else is there to help, then yes to that too. The only way a mom should not be allowed to keep her child is if she can not care for it, or chooses not to.

  • Depending on the severity of the Downs and the amount of support she has from family and friends.. there are so many individuals that have kids that should not I dont think it can be generalized
