  • Depends on what your pregnancy is like (high risk or not) but Green tea DOES have caffeine the question is how much? Which varies but is signifcantly less then coffee. The amount of caffeine released depends on how long you steep the bag, how hot the water is or which leaves were used hot or cold. There are lot's of studies and articles on how much caffeine is in green tea but no way to tell an accurate amount. Green tea is lke anything else in moderation its fine, unless otherwise specified by your OB. There are side affects that may affect the fetus if you do consume a large amount (300mg a day depending on amount of days consumed) of caffeine of fetal risks (lot's of studies there too). The amount of caffeine consumed during pregnancy may also give the baby once born "withdrawl" symptoms similar to drug abuse fetal symptoms. Also some symptoms may not be seen until years later for the baby after birth.
