  • a cute cork board/white board combo, a desk lamp, at least 2 pair of rubber flip flops for the shower, a bag of quarters for the laundry, a mesh laundry hamper/tote.

  • Shower shoes if she won't have a private bathroom.
Earplugs/eyemask - in case her dorm/roommate keep different hours than she does
wireless electronics recharging mat, so she can recharge her phone, mp3 player, etc. on one outlet
gift box of favorite foods from home (if she can use a microwave in her dorm, you might want to include things she can cook if she gets hungry at a late hour like soup cups or instant mac and cheese)

  • laundry bag?
My college offered this welcome package parents could order for their incoming freshman (we got a note telling us to go to the Student Union to pick up a package) and one of the the things it had in there was a laundry bag. I still use it 15 years later and it came in very handy while in college (you find real fast they take up less room than a basket and space is usually a premium). There was also a travel mug, samples of coffee and tea, some candy, a small sewing kit, a small first aid kit (just bandaids and stuff), a college survival guide, stickers and a few other random things to make the kids laugh and relax.
