I have a recipe for sugar cookies and homemade icing. But it is for white icing is there a way to make colored icing?

don't you just use food coloring? If so how many drops do you use?

  • Yes - just add food coloring. Start w/a few drops & see how you like that color. Add more if you want it darker.

  • I'd add coloring. Just add drops until you get the color you want

  • Why would you want to taste the coloring? You can make it a different flavor with an extract but those can get pricy.

  • If you add a lot (like making red) you will taste it if you use the wrong kind of food coloring. If you want red, you need to find a gel. I don't do red for that reason, the gels are hard to find.
