Training Bras...what age?

Ok, so DD is five. ( I know, young enough that she doesn't need one, but its coming.)

So I'm shopping online in the clearance section of JCP, prices low to high. So I come across (adorable!) little training bras....very thin, flat, etc, and they have them in size small. Is that small like a 5? Or what? I know I want to get her training bras before she needs them, while they are still optional. That way she is used to them, by the time she does need them. (1 less "change" to deal with later, when all of that growing up stuff starts happening.)

Thoughts?

  • I would guess not until she needs it? I think 5 would be too young.

  • I say around the time she starts to mature or develops "buds".

  • Same thing here sweet. My daughter was nine when we first got her the ones the look like sports bras because her 'buds' were showing through her shirts. I have noticed that girls are getting boobies as early as 5 though, so it all depends. I mean if you can see the little bumps in her shirt, then she probably needs one and if you can't, then maybe just hold off.

  • I definitely want her to have one *before* she starts developing....It will give her time to get used to a new article of clothing before she has to get used to a changing body....but how long before? And kids go through puberty so early these days, so who knows when that will be happening.....Hopefully after 10....but it seems like a lot of girls are earlier these days.

  • She DOES have some baby fat up there, that I swear wasn't there before, but you know how gets gain a little fat, and then they get tall and skinny, and then they get a little fat, and then tall and skinny? (Mine do, anyways.) I was thinking it was just that. And nothing that really shows through a shirt, at all.

  • Yea ihartu, a boy made a comment about my daughter (last year) already having boobs

She preferred an undershirt for awhile, but she's graduated to brtas:)

Drives my hubs nuts...she's just growing so fast...and she's so innocent
