  • mrzshante, the doctor will give you insurance? I don't think so.

Lizzy, what they do can vary widely from doctor to doctor. They may do an ultrasound to confirm the pregnancy, may do blood work, they will take your weight, and blood pressure and maybe your temp. They will also ask for a detailed medical history. They will also likely take urine.

  • You'll fill out a form asking you about your medical history. The doctor/nurse will probably ask about smoking, drinking, drug use. The nurse will take you blood pressure, pulse, temp and weigh you. You may have blood drawn and they will recommend you get up-to-date on your vaccinations. The doctor will talk to you about the do's and don'ts of pregnancy and will give you literature to take home. A prescription of prenatals may be offered but isn't needed. You can get them OTC from your local drug store/wal-mart. Let this be an opportunity to talk to your doctor about your philosophy and ask them about how they view pregnancy. If for whatever reason, you don't like your doctor, get a different one.
    Congrats btw. =)

  • first visit they usually give u a pregnancy info will have several guidelines to follow. they will weigh you. take urine sample to confirm you are pregnant. get your edd...(estimated due date) they will want to know the first day of your last period. take blood. get your medical history and the history of your family and of the father of the child. they will get your vitals IE blood pressure....things of that nature...i doubt they will do an exam. but if they do you will probably get a pap at that time. you will basically get like a physical so to speak.
