What can cause blue lips?

at work today when I looked into the mirror I noticed that my lips a kinda blue and I thought its wired since I didnt eat anything blue. When I looked closer I saw that thoese are the veins. I was kinda worried never saw it before like that. Was kinda fresh in that room where I was for a couple of minutes but not really cold.
Later in it was fine. Anyone every experienced that? What could it be? You think it only came from cause its was a little cold? I wasnt freezing.

  • It could be that you were cold, or blood supply was being cut off.

  • my fingernails, toenails & lips all turn blue when im cold. its an iron deficiency (atleast in my case) and a bit of poor circulation. when you're cold, your blood pumps away from your extremeties and more to your inner organs, causing your hands, feet, etc. to be cold. some people might not have great circulation and when they get cold & the blood pumps away from their extremeties, thus causes the discoloration. you should get it checked though,, you may need an iron supplement or to see if it could be someting more serious.

  • pneumonia, low iron, whooping cough, and several other health issues can cause blue lips. I'd go get our lungs checked. Just to be safe. You can have pneumonia and not know it.
