Need a good crust recipe for peach cobbler.

I would like a recipe that is heavy, buttery and sugary. Should I use Crisco?
My crust is good, a little cake-like and the vanilla compliments the peach, but I want to stretch my crusty wings...Thanks.

  • Okay, just had to make sure ;). I use real butter, flour, some baking powder, sugar, sometimes some cinnamon...the butter is what makes it though, IMO. I don't measue, I just add stuff til it looks yummy. If you're unsure of what you're doing, buy a box of Bisquick, make the biscuit recipe but with some sugar, a little extra milk, and some melted butter - total yum!

  • I thought cobbler meant the fruit goes in the bottom with a biscuit-like topping on it? Is that what you mean, the topping?

  • My mom makes a good crust and she does use shortening for it. Makes it flavorful and flaky.
