making christmas presents

I want to have my daughter make her grandparents their Christmas presents. Any ideas that a 2 year old can do??

  • Plaster of paris hand print ornaments would be cute.

  • With your help, she can decorate plain aprons or T-shirts -- craft and fabric stores sell them just for this purpose.

You can get colored fabric paints (in little jars or squeeze bottles or pens/markers). Add a little glitter or tiny beads or buttons (just be sure you're watching so she doesn't "taste" anything...my DD was a "taster" when she was that age. :-)

You can have her add an outline of her little hand or get photo-transfer paper that will let you print out a photo of her (if you have a home computer and printer) and iron-on that photo to the gift. Let her paint around it.

  • She can make them Christmas sweatshirts by using her little hands. To make a reindeer cut a triangle out of felt and hot glue it on to the sweatshirt-for the antlers, using fabric paint-paint one hand at a time brown for each antler-buy eyes a big red pom-poms for the nose-really cute! My Ore-K kids make these every year for their parents. Or you could make a Christmas Tree out of her hands-start with 5 hand prints upside down on the sweatshirt and go across with green paint-then 4-then 3-then 2, and so on-then use other colors to make the ornaments out of her fingertips.
