see the sac?

I just went in for my first ultrasound, because the doctor wasn't sure how far along I was. But they couldn't see the sac, but they said it was normal. So I was wondering how far along do you have to be to see a clearly defined sac and the baby/babies?

  • With my 2nd they could NOT see it at 4 weeks but could see it at 6.5 weeks with an intervaginal ultra sound.

  • With my first son I went to the dr at 7 weeks. We saw everything. I think with my second son I didn't have an ultrasound until I was 10 weeks.

    When was your last period?

  • You must still be pretty early. Did they do a vaginal US, or abdominal?

  • You are early. They will have to wait until they are able to measure the baby so they can give a good guess on how far along you are.
