What can you do for heartburn?

  • Avoid all triggers narrow it down with a food journal, I started with 1/2 tsp baking soda in a glass of water, went to tums, then over the counter acid reducers then over the counter Prilosec and then went for a throat scope and am now on prescription Prilosec.
    Chocolate is one of my biggest culprits, then some spicy foods

  • Find out the source of the heartburn and avoid it like the plague, or take many of the medications available for this.

  • Milk helps, but take something on top of that. Prilosec, though expensive, works really well.

  • slice of white bread soaked in milk - gross but always worked for me when preggo Food journal should help track the culprit

  • Avoiding things that cause it first, otherwise take an OTC heartburn med and even sleeping a bit elevated helps.

  • Try natural Papaya capsules so at health food stores it helps a lot. :)
