  • The ones of little kids are especially sweet. I just love these sentimental traditions.

  • The difference between self mutilation in Christianity and the Muslim religion is that Jesus, God, and Christians do not approve and/or celebrate it. But again why was Christianity brought into a Muslim topic?

  • this mutaliation and the way some folks practice on this day is not Islam.. Shia are for the most part the people who practice this... in observation of the death of the grandson of the prophet. (Many shia are said to be outside of the fold of islam.

Sunni Muslims do not practice this though we do celebrate the day of ashura. it is a day of fasting for us in commemoration of Moses and the Liberation of the children of isreal.

i don't know any muslims who practice this self mutaliation.. islam forbids even slapping yourself on the face.

  • I don't really care if they want to mutilate themselves, as long as they don't make me do it. I saw the National Geographic show on the practice, and the only thing that really bothered me was that they start at around 3 years old.

  • I wonder if you are aware that there are just as bloody traditions in other countries that practice Christianity. The whip their own backs bloody with sharpened whips. They hammer crowns of thorns into their heads. They literally get nailed to crosses. They do these things to prove their faith in God. Maybe you should watch Taboo on NatGeo ... very interesting and educational show. What you consider "filth" ... they consider faithful.

Oh and one more thing ... you really should go back and read Brandy's post again ... you obviously didn't understand what she said.

Nuns ---Catholic Nuns self-mutilate too. They beat themselves to punish their bad thoughts and failings. Check out the link.
I think all religions have self-mutilated in history....not just this one.

  • They allow computer access at the asylum?

Answer by sweet-a-kins at 12:43 AM on Dec. 12, 2010

  • we can claim that because there are SECTS in islam. those who follow closley to the Prophet do not mutilate themselves.

YOu should know your role. You are speaking about something you have absolutely no knowledge about. at all

You think you can click on links and know something.

Muslims go to mosque every day 5 times a day... whether they flood mosque or not doesn't mean they are following the way of the prophet.. hence the fighting as you say..

The fight is to call to the way of the prophet.. period.. BECAUSE it was Revelation and anything outside of it.. IS PURELY UNISLAMIC.

because someone says its in the name of islam.. DOESN't make it islam...

Learn the difference so that when you spread something you spread it with knowledge instead of ignorance
