  • So what is it?

babies legs are bowed because of being in the fetal position in the uterus. The leg "bows" out in a curve, widest at the knee. When looking at both legs together you'll notice that the knees are further apart than the upper leg or ankle. As they learn to walk and their legs get stronger it is usually corrected.

  • It's a curving of the bone in the lower part of the leg. It is normal for newborns and should go away.

According to my twins' physical therapist, if a child is constantly putting body weight on the legs too early, it can cause bowlegs. That is why a majority of physical therapists are against the walkers or excersaucers.
