Anyone here do the traditional Italian seven fishes on Christmas Eve?

We do a modified version. We are having shrimp, calamari, oysters I think.

  • My grandma does all the fish, smelts, stuffed flounder, calamari, anchovies rolled in dough and deep fried, shrimp, fried and fresh, white fish. You can smell her house from a block away, lol!

  • We used to growing up, my dad's family is Sicilian Catholic. But I don't like a lot of seafood so lately it's calamari, shrimp, and crab legs. Maybe linguine with clam sauce.

  • It's not a traditional custom in the part of Italy my family is from, so no.

  • My Irish Italian family always served fish for Christmas Eve (just one, not seven). I am thinking of having one or two fish dishes this year for my own family.
