When can kids move to the front seat (in their car seat/booster)?

Wondering when it's okay for kids to seat in the front of the car (sedan)?
Can they do this in their booster?

  • I think age 12 is what my car's manual says. So most definitely not in a booster.

  • I think they say 8 but I am not sure. I know that some states have different laws also. They also say kids are safest in the back no matter what age. Maybe you can go online for your state and look it up?

  • They dont recommend anyone under the age of 12 y/o being a front seat passenger due to airbags. Actually, anyone under 5' 4" (yes that includes shorties like me!) are at greater risk of injury from a deploying air bag. (Aim the steering wheel towards your chest, not your face)

  • If there is an air bag, it would be 12 weighing 79 lbs, because it could kill them....

Other wise with no air bag, I would think 8 and under is too young, if they are still in a booster, they should not be in the front seat-safety, there are too many cars on the road now a days....

  • It is different for each state. I know here you have to be a certain height and weight.

  • My son turned 12 last month. I have just started letting him sit in the front.

  • 12. It also depends on the height and weight of the child. NEVER in a booster.
