  • I have a right to "my opinion". I still feel as if it's the same thing.

  • I don't think it is, just like how I don't think Plan B is the same thing is abortion.

  • Apparently it won't terminate a fetus that is already implanted, so I wouldn't consider it an abortion.

  • No. It's another form of hormonal contraception.

  • I split the "how it works" in two parts.

"Ella hinders progesterone and postpones the surge of hormones that tell the body it's time to release a mature egg."

So... if an egg cannot be released, there's nothing to fertilize and nothing to abort.

"With progesterone's activity held at bay, the womb cannot be prepared to accept a fertilized egg and to care for a developing embryo."

If you're in the "life begins at conception" camp, then you will believe that this is an abortion pill. I personally have never been in that camp.

So at least for ME... it's not the same. I can see where some will believe that it is.

  • Yes, but I see hormonal BC, IUDs and Plan B as just as much abortion as I do this... NONE of them stop conception, and they unnaturally remove a fertilized egg from the body or prevent implantation, so yes, it's a form - at least a basic form - of abortion because it's being done with the consent of the mother.

But, as with any other form, it's the mothers choice...

  • If it doesn't terminate pregnancy its not the same as abortion, IMO.

  • No, but even if it were, I'd still support it as the woman's choice.
