  • Girl, in my 40 some years, I have owned a variety of different dogs. By far the best that I have ever owned is this Cocker Spaniel! I rescued him from a no-kill shelter several years ago. He only has one eye, so they were having a hard time adopting him out. I am so thankful for that. He's absolutely the BEST dog in the world. We are guessing he is between 6-10 years old. I love this guy. I have talked to others who have owned Cockers as well, and they all seem to have the same temperament. That's my recommendation.

  • As long as they are raised around kids from birth, they are great family dogs. A lot of ppl don't realize that any other dog has about the same statistics as a pit bull for "turning on you". They just get a bad rap bc some are bread for fighting. I also really like labs, German Shepperds and collies as a family dog if you like larger dogs. :)

  • I have been raising my kids around big dogs like pitbulls and now we have rottweilers, Pits & rotts are not bad dogs its all in how they were raised and none of ours have been raised to be agressive, they are very loving but also very protective of us.

  • Pitbull is not a bad breed it is how they are raised. So that should relieve your families fears on that and you shouldn't worry unless they show they will have a bad-behavior thing going on. I have a Schipperke they are amazing with children, other animals, outdoor animals, and are still protective. The only downfall is they are hyper and if you can't devote more than an hour a day playing this would be a bad choice. You should look them up though they are adorable and I found my schipp pure bred in a pet store(very odd but she dad a good attitude) She was litter trained in a day and she is great with my daughter who is 1.5 years old. Good luck on your search for the doggie.

  • I have a pit bull and an AMerican Bulldog. I think the pit bull is actually more patient with my daughter. I'm teaching her to be nice to our dogs and so far she is doing good. Pit bulls are great dogs don't believe the rumors. Any dog can attack a child. Never leave dogs alone with kids and teach them to treat dogs with respect and you'll be fine.
