Do your kids do this as well?

Ok so when i have to get after my kids i usually have to repeat myself like a gazillion times, i use my stern firm voice with them & threaten time out & they still don't listen....ooooh noo but when daddy gets after them the same dang way i just did they listen no problemo. What?! I just did that & got nothing nada zilch. Why wont they listen to me? Hopefully this is just a phase.

  • my son is the same way. i think its the deep male voice that kinda shocks them in to listening more. i mean, think about it... whats more intimidating, the voice that sooths you when you have an owie or dont feel good, or a deep, loud bark from a guy?

  • when my son doesnt listen i get up and go to him and get on his level and say excuse me, did you hear what I just said? make him repeat me, and then I tell him to get it done. I hate repeating myself, but I do have to repeat more than daddy.

  • With my kids it's the opposite, I tend to be more strict and most of the time, follow through. My husband is more of a push over and less likely to follow through no matter what, he usually gives up as soon they start to cry, especially when it comes to my daughter.

  • Stop repeating yourself, say it once or twice. If they don't listen take away toys, tv etc. That will make them take notice. I refuse to keep repeat myself.
