  • Yes, and Yes...

I believe the majority of superstitions, like myths, are based in reality. For example, you don't open an umbrella in doors because you're likely to break something or hurt someone - bad luck? Well, I guess it depends on what you break... So yeah, I guess I figure I'm better safe than sorry when it comes to superstitions...

And yes, I believe history repeats itself because for some reason people refuse to learn from the past...

  • Not in any way stupidstitious.

History repeats its self because humans refuse to learn from past mistakes...

  • No, not really. I joke with people about being jinxed sometimes, but I don't actually believe it. I did wear something old, new, borrowed, and blue at my wedding, but mostly because it's just something people do and I felt it was expected or a tradition of sorts. I wouldn't have freaked out if one of those things were missing or anything though. I also say 'Bless you' when people sneeze, but it just seems like a polite thing to do; I don't actually think their heart stopped or they're expelling evil spirits or whatever. I don't open umbrellas inside, because things may break (as Sabrina already pointed out).

Yes, if lessons weren't learned the first time, then they will be repeated. People seem to have a hard enough time learning from their own mistakes, so they definitely have trouble learning from the mistakes of others. That's if they're even knowledgeable about the mistakes of the past.

  • I just remembered this quote too: "History does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme"--Mark Twain

  • I am a bit superstitious I suppose... and I do believe that history seems to repeat itself.

  • Not at all, but I find it fun to freak out those who are. Usually mention of being born on Friday the 13th is enough for them to start running the other direction

  • Not the least bit superstitious.

I do think history CAN repeat itself (and in a few cases has), but it isn't definite that it will either.
