How to make sure your getting the right reading on the themometer?

When checking my child's temperture I was like man this is too high (102.) but I have also heard to add or subtract the digit on the thermometer.

What is correct?

  • When taking a rectal temp, you subtract 1. An underarm temp, you add 1. An oral temp, or ear temp, you leave the same.
