Have you heard about the 8 year old

being charged with double homicide?
I cannot figure what the motive was? But then, how could a 8 year old child have a motive for murder unless he was being mentally/physically or sexually abused.

  • Wow wow.. that is crazy bout the zoo by...what kind of parents are raising those children?

Answer by emturner at 10:12 PM on Nov. 7, 2008

  • I hadn't heard about the boy charged with murder. The boy at the zoo was in Australia. Their laws say that a child under 8 can't be charged with a crime, that they don't yet know right from wrong - but the parents can be held responsible.

  • I will tell you that I have met kids this age, capable of doing this type of awful thing. Age is not much of an excuse. Some ppl are born bad, and they were bad from birth. I'm sorry I feel this way, but we all aren't "good people" just because we should be. I don't agree with your statement, he could just be bad for know predictable reason.

  • is there a link or something, I don't remember hearing anything of the sort

Answer by Anonymous at 10:29 PM on Nov. 7, 2008

  • Sad :( But it could be psychological problems or mental illness. But if it's mental illness could s(he) be held accountable? Could an 8 year old be held accountable anyway?

Answer by EricaAbbott at 10:32 PM on Nov. 7, 2008

  • In the United States a child who has past his 6th birthday can be held accountable for murder, but ironically enough not for some lesser crimes. This is the result of some old outdated laws that have not been updated since colonial times.
