Cat's breath!

My cat's breath smells horrible, like she's eaten a gallon of tuna and she's never had tuna. >.< Wondered if anyone knew of anything I could do about it, or do I just have to suffer every time she decides to meow in my face??

  • I'd like to know if someone has an idea. I've been telling my vet/sister in law that my cat's breath is horrible for years and she never even acnowledges it, like it's so normal it's not even worth discussing or something.

  • There is help at the pet store. Because those treats for breath aren't cheap, use them when snuggling the cat, not daily.

Also, a bad tooth give a cat really really bad breath. Get a checkup at the vet for it. Does kitty have indigestion? Too many snacks from the people table can also make breath worse.

    good luck

  • Thanks LeftBrainy, I admit that I do feed her quite a bit from the table (more than I do my dog) and I know it's bad - but I never thought about that being part of the cause. I don't think she has indigestion.. but thanks a lot for the advice!

  • my one cat has EVIL breath as well.....the others don't and are all up on shots/meds (if they haven't been wormed they get stinky breath) Also, they do lick their ENTIRE body on a daily basis - gross

  • You should always brush your pets teeth, just like we brush ours, just not quite as often, theres also foods that can help their teeth,

  • She might have an abcessed tooth, get her teeth checked at the vet--imagine if you had a toothache and couldn't tell anybody?
