Can it really take up to 10 yrs before you get a positive result for an HIV TEST?

Have you been tested before marriage? And if it takes 10 yrs do you plan on testing again?

  • Geeze, really? I wasn't aware it could be up to 10 years. I suppose it'll be something to talk to my doctor about in a few years.

  • i'm not sure if it does. i'm asking this as a serious question. i read in another question someone says it could take up to 10 yrs. it got me thinking...

  • Up to six months. It can take ten years for HIV to turn to AIDS.

  • It can take up to 6 months for a test to show as positive after exposure. It can take 10+ years for HIV to become full blown AIDS.

    There are many ways which people can become infected, so I have a yearly screening regardless of my relationship status. You never know what you're randomly coming in contact with when you're out and about.
