Boys jumping off of the furniture!!!!! Son now has black eye because of it.

They listen to us normally about any other request or rules that we have at the house except jumping off of stuff. My son today even jumped off of something and gave himself a black eye and two minutes later was trying to jump again. Very fustrated I don't want them getting hurt. They have a trampolin at their dads house and even they have problems with them jumping off of stuff there. I don't want them getting hurt. my son's ages are 3 and 4. Does anyone have any suggestions to get them to stop?

  • Send them to time out every time they jump off something..or ground them from some toy or activity they like.

  • My son went through that phase. Everytime he jumped he had to sit on the couch by himself for five minutes. (No tv). After the third time he didn't want to jump anymore.

  • I feel your pain!! My 20 month old has found a new favorite past time. He likes to jump off of his bed, coffee table, or anything else he can stand on..and when he lands, he doesnt use his feet, he likes to land on his butt! He thinks its the funniest thing EVER and I am so afraid he's going to end up bruising or fracturing his tail bone doing this!

  • my only answer would be time outs or taking away their favorite toy. or plan a special outing for them if they follow all the rules! good luck

  • My son is 18 months and does the same thing... he climbs on EVERYTHING and has a "no fear" policy about jumping... that and he tries to run down our driveway that is super steep... Everytime he does it I feel closer to a heart attack... I totally understand where you're coming from... except you have 2... couldn't imagine!

  • I have furniture hoppers too. If they don't stop they get kicked off the furniture completely for a while.
