What are safe exercises to do while pregnant ?

I'm pregnant with my first (14 weeks) and I was just wondering if there were certain exercises I could do

  • At 14 weeks, you can walk, light jog, swimming is always good

  • you can do anything you did before just listen to your body, some things may require more breaks than before and you may have to drink more water, etc but for the most part you should be able to do the same exercises if you were active before.

  • Especially if you were active before getting pregnant you can pretty much continue most physical exercise as long as you feel comfortable doing it. HOWEVER it is not recommended to do anything that could cause you to get off balance for example in line skating, ice skating are not recommended. Even moms who are runners can continue running well into their pregnancy as long as they were running before. I wouldn't START running though once you become pregnant. Yoga and pilates are especially good while pregnant..

  • you can do anything you did before you were pregnant, just avoid intensive abdominal workouts, and anything that is obviously dangerous (you know, skydiving, free climbing, etc.). You're not likely to do anything at all that would hurt the baby, you're likely to do something that would hurt YOU. So, just be mindful of your comfort level :)
