Would it do any good to...

take away your kid's phone or computer privileges nowadays with so much access to multimedia nowadays?

Borrowing a friends or going to the library? Its not the same world we grew up in where it was harder to get online or use the phone if your's was taken away, now they can go almost anywhere else.

  • It's still harder for them, because they have to get to the library, to a friends house, or barrow someone else's. And they'd rather have their own. Therefore, it does make a point and show your authority. Plus, if you find out they did use it somewhere else, then more punishment lays ontop of the first. Consequences are a bitch. Kids gotta learn that quick.

  • They still can't use it in the privacy of their own home though.

  • Absolutely. Consequences are a necessary part of learning to make better choices.

  • Yes it does have an impact. They LOVE having their own phone or computer and to take it away is kind of like messing with their status of "I have my own...." and they don't like that

  • It's still huge. Who really goes to the library to use the computer? My son would never think of that. And you can't really borrow someone's phone. Maybe for 1 call, but not to text.

  • Just think about how hard it would make your life to have someone take your phone. Those multi-media outlets are just as available to you, but it'd still be a major inconvenience.
