my 14 month old has this obsession w/ holding mommy & daddys ears when she is tired, or her own, & my husband wants her ears pierced

SHE LOVES EARS! lol.. my 4 yr old JUST got her ears pierced a few months ago.. because she ASKED me.. and she sat up there like a big girl, and I was even saying okay, we can leave if you want, haha, but she kept saying no and she did it and didnt even cry! I always had a rule that id get theirs ears pierced when they wanted, and were old enough to "ask" even though they may not know whats coming for them..

my husband will not stop saying he wants our 14 month olds ears pierced. hes been begging me ever since she was born, and i always felt bad like thats unneccessary pain. i know people go either way on this.. but my concern is will she pull them out and pick at them or will they hurt her when she is sleeping at this age?? like i said.. she is constantly playing and holding her ears...

  • Most likely she'd pull at them
    Hold off

  • I absolutely would not pierce a 14 month old's ears. I wouldn't do a 4 year old either, but that's just me.

  • If she plays with her ears and pulls on them I wouldn't yet. A childhood friend had her earlobe cut in two, like a snakes tongue because an earring got stuck on a shirt and ripped out her ear.

  • It's weird that your husband cares about this. Most men would never notice such a thing. Tell him to back off.

  • Hold off, for the simple fact that she grabs her ears. They will be sore and sensitive after they get done. They heal better as an infant though, rather than an older child/adult. If she were to pull them out after you got them done, or even tug on them when trying to sleep, it would hurt far more than actually getting them pierced.

I got mine done when I was only 2 months old. Everyone I know has gotten them done for their kids that young... it's the normal age.

  • lol i would wait because she pull on her ears..ouch

i don't think 2 mths is the "normal age", i wasn't allowed to get mine done till i was 12 and able to properly take care of them, as well as pay for it.

  • Yeah, I know many people (including my mom) dont like the baby ear pierced thing, but i also know many people get them when they are first born! So for those who are so TOO YOUNG kinda thing, thats totally fine, its just not what im asking!
